Royal College of Physicians Wedding, Edinburgh
Enjoying revisiting the autumn wedding of Jayne and John, which took place at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. From the Art Deco inspired stationery, to the stunning geometric cake and etched centrepieces, Jayne and John’s wedding was one seriously stylish day.
The Royal College of Physicians, on Edinburgh’s Queen Street, whilst unassuming from outside appearances, is truly spectacular inside. The space is large enough to provide a real sense of grandeur, yet also offers a nice level of intimacy. The venue can also be used exclusively by the wedding party and guests are able to wander and admire the beautiful spaces within the building.
Jayne began the day getting ready at her parent’s home, with her bridesmaids and a watchful, fluffy cat!
Jayne’s beautiful lace wedding dress was created by Mette at Freja Designer Dressmaking, and the bridesmaids elegant outfits were by Coast.
Jayne’s hand tied bouquet of cream flowers with sprigs of sea holly thistles and eucalyptus, was created for her by Edinburgh based Planet Flowers.
Groom John wore his kilt, a trend which was followed by all of the bridal party. John’s tartan was Ancient Macbeth, a lovely hue of light blues and greys. These colours were picked up in the men’s button holes which included beautiful sea holly sprigs.
I absolutely love the magnificent ceiling of the main hall in the Royal College of Physicians, where Jayne and John’s reception took place.
Instead of confetti guests were asked to take a Wedding Wand to wave “Hooray” at the end of the ceremony.
Jayne and John worked closely with their various wedding suppliers to achieve the geometric, Art Deco theme of the day. Details included etching on the vases and a bespoke cake stand to perfectly compliment the gold and cream, Art Deco inspired cake.
