As I’m sitting in the office looking out on the frosty grass and spring bulbs regretting their early emergence, I’m enjoying looking back at this summer wedding we photographed in East Lothian.
Annie and Ryan were married in the pretty village church Humbie Kirk and then celebrated with family and friends at Annie’s family home.
Auroras Encore, the name of the horse Ryan was riding when he won the Grand National. It would only seem fitting that the top table was named after it.

Thanks to The Wedding Community for choosing one of our images for their Picture of the Day.
This image was captured in Lynsey’s childhood bedroom, full of the usual wedding morning chaos of make-up, clothes, bags and other paraphernalia.
Thankfully there was a lovely directional light falling into the room from the window, which I was able to use to focus on this beautiful moment, excluding everything else…

When Freddie and Glenn decided to elope to Edinburgh for their wedding, they knew they wanted to throw a wedding party like no other a year later. For this occasion (and what an occasion it was!), they gathered family and friends at Dundas Castle to throw a helluva party, combining a mixture of Scottish and Ethiopian traditions.
The day included an intimate humanist ceremony in Dundas Castle‘s atmospheric Auld Keep, followed by canapés and dinner, a magician, a girls’ choir, Ethiopian dances, fireworks and a Beating Retreat from a full pipe band.
Freddie wore three stunning gowns throughout the day, beginning with a classical ivory lace and sequinned encrusted dress for the wedding ceremony. This was followed by a glamorous wine coloured evening gown accessorised with the most beautifully rich velvet cape (which she designed herself!) and finally beautifully embroidered traditional Ethiopian gown.
Silver Christian Louboutin shoes and intricately decorated gold jewellery worn by Freddie.
Thank you Freddie and Glenn for choosing us to capture your incredible day at Dundas Castle, we wish you all the very best for your future together and hope our paths will cross again.

If I had to sum up what a perfect autumn wedding would look like, this would be it: sunshine, no wind, lots of beautiful, colourful foliage and flowers, inside and out. So… without further ado…. introducing a perfect autumn wedding!
Lynsey and Ewan decided to have their October wedding in their hometown of Edinburgh. The couple married at the pretty St. Cuthberts Parish Church in Colinton, before celebrating with family and friends at one of Edinburgh’s most impressive wedding venues, Mansfield Traquair.
Ewan and his groomsmen travelled in style with their wedding guests in two red double decker buses.

A beautiful autumnal Elie wedding
Presenting our favourite Scottish wedding destinations: Elie on the Fife coast.
Elie is a picturesque seaside resort, and the surrounding coastline make it a wonderful place to capture our couples against the dramatic backdrop of the Firth of Forth.
Raquel and Ross’ wedding was a perfect case in point, we loved being able to capture them in big landscapes, dramatic light and such a beautiful setting, only one minute’s walk from the road…
The couple’s wedding cake took the form of a tower of macaroons in shades of violet, pink and cream.
Thank you so much Raquel and Ross for choosing us to capture your wonderful day, and many congratulations on your first year of marriage also! We wish you the very best and hope our paths may cross again.

Today we are looking back at Candida and Dimitri’s wedding Edinburgh’s historic Signet Library . I promise you, this is one of the most elegant weddings you’ve ever seen! The attention to detail in this literary themed wedding, from literary inspired stationery and table decorations, was astonishing and such a delight to capture.
The couple met whilst students, and years later Dimitri proposed to Candida in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle, whilst enjoying a weekend break in Edinburgh.
Candida’s elegant updo was styled by Ladylux Salon, with a floral headpiece made of gypsophila adding the final touch.
During the drinks reception, we took a quick trip up Arthur’s Seat for some wedding photos.
You can’t tell by looking at this picture, but the reason Candida isn’t wearing her veil is that we were standing in a wind tunnel and her veil was blown off!
As well as providing the flowers for the wedding the team at Planet Flowers also creative the incredible installation of book pages cascading from the top table.
The birdcage inspired wedding cake, by Liggy’s Cakes, echoed the birdcages decorated with gyspophila around the venue.
The evening music was provided by DJ Phetta and as Dimitri is of Greek heritage, a few Greek traditional dances were danced as well, including a ‘Kalamatianos’ for the ladies and a ‘Sousta’ for the men.
Thank you so much Candida and Dimitri for choosing us to capture your wonderful wedding. We wish you much happiness for the future and hope our paths will cross again.

If your backgarden looks *this* amazing, then it would be crazy not to use it for your wedding!
We are loving look back at the beautiful garden party themed wedding of Melissa and Ollie, held at their picturesque family home, Millearne Gardens in Perthshire. The day was such a success that Millearne Gardens is now available as a wedding venue for other couple’s to enjoy. Nestled in the Perthshire countryside, Millearne has the most spectacular gardens and rural location providing a wonderful backdrop for us to capture the couple’s magical day.
I love this shot of all Melissa’s bridesmaids watching as Robert Cameron Hair adds the finishing touches to Melissa’s hair.
The elegant flowers in summer pinks, creams and whites decorated Melissa’s family home and the wedding marquee. All the floral decorations for the wedding were created by the talented team at Planet Flowers.
Melissa and Ollie surprised their family and friends with entertainment from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Gilmerton House wedding, North Berwick, East Lothian
Ok, I’ve been busy. Ok, I’ve fallen a little behind with my blogging. But it’s fair to say that I’ve been super excited about blogging this gem of a wedding, and finally now, little over a year later, here is the blog!
Harriet and William’s boho wedding was utterly beautiful from beginning till end – from the super elegant setting of Gilmerton House, to Rose and Ammi‘s beautiful wildflowers to Papakata‘s teepee tent, this wedding was a joy to capture!
Following the wedding ceremony the couple gathered their friends and family together for a reception in gorgeous Papakata teepee tent. The tent was decorated with 1000 origami cranes , inspired by an ancient Japanese legend which promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted happiness and eternal good luck.
Starters were cheese and cured meat platters, ready on the tables as guests entered the marquee. The food was created by the talented team at Appetite Direct, with tables decorated with colourful wildflowers by Edinburgh-based florists Rose and Ammi.
Harriet and William, thank you so much for choosing us to capture your day. We wish you all the best for your future together and hope our paths may cross again one day.

Prestonfield House Hotel wedding photography
It feels like an enormous privilege to be part of one of the happiest and most significant days in a couple’s lifetime. I love meeting couples at such a happy place in their lives and then being part of planning and documenting their big day. Once the day has been and gone, I love helping them create the album that will become the memories and heirlooms they will carry with them through their life together.
I loved meeting Jenn and Grant and hearing their story. With a move to the other side of the world on the horizon, the wedding felt like it was a marker in their lives – the end of one chapter, the start of something new and exciting.
They had chosen to have an intimate wedding with only their closest family and friends present. Prestonfield House Hotel felt like the perfect setting for this – beautiful and grand, yet intimate and cozy.
I loved the sun spilling into the rooms creating pockets of light and darkness, followed by our outdoor photos, where we narrowly missed a huge shower, but exited into glorious sunshine, bouncing off the wet ground.
All this was followed by speeches, dinner and more doughnuts than any sane person could eat.
What could possibly be a better, happier way to mark a Life Chapter?
Glasgow University Chapel & Lochgreen House Hotel wedding photography
We absolutely love capturing a spring wedding, and when they involve beautiful blossom, sunshine and stunning sunsets what could be more perfect? Samantha and Michael’s wedding day had all of these elements in abundance.
Samantha’s day started at her parents’ house, with hair, make-up, nerves, champagne and lots of laughs. (I love capturing mornings like that!)
Samantha’s pretty hand tied bouquet, and the posies carried by her four bridesmaids, were made up of blush roses, pale pink peonies and cream gerberas.
Meanwhile, Michael and his groomsmen enjoyed a drink at Cottiers before heading to the chapel.
I love this moment of Samantha and her father making their way up the steps to Glasgow University Chapel, a beautiful, traditional landmark in the west end of Glasgow. The venue held a special place for the couple, being in the area where they first met and now live. The chapel has many grand and breathtaking elements to it from the beautiful stained glass windows to the original stone and woodwork pieces. The inward facing pews of the chapel allow all the wedding guests a good view of the ceremony.
Another joy of a spring wedding is blossom! The timing of the wedding perfectly coincided with the blossom trees being in full bloom, providing the most beautiful backdrop for portraits of Samantha.
The second venue of the day was Lochgreen House Hotel, which is 45 minutes from Glasgow on the west coast. Lochgreen House is a traditional country house which sits in the countryside in the west coast of Scotland. The couple loved the homely but elegant ambience this hotel offers as well as the stunning food and canapés.
Hurray for tall, strong ushers who don’t mind holding a light (and an underskirt…)
Sam and Mike, we had the most wonderful time capturing your wedding – thank you for choosing us to capture your day!
